We attended the "Wordz Make You Think" Poetry Slam yesterday. There is just too much to say on what we experienced. The things we heard... An amazing array of emotion and beauty synchronized in the most delectable form of the poetry that I've heard as of late. Young people, this is where you should be. This is what you should be hearing. Put away your SOULDJAH BOYs & LITTLE WAYNEs... and listen to the amazing melodies of your peers as they school us on life, as they see it.
The girl in this video you will recognize in the pictures below. Her name is Maxis and she is the coach for the Miami team, as well as a poet herself. The other poet, Diego, I was hoping to see at the event but he was not there. This poem in the video below entitled "Father"... it does too many things to me. Hear for yourself.
& that's only a minuscule portion of the eargasm we experienced yesterday. Here is a Photo Recap of the amazing competition.
